"Eyes are the Windows to the Soul" Painting
Meet the Creator: Laure Patera
Inspired by the phrase "Eyes are the Windows to the Soul," this piece was created when I was feeling a struggle with my identity and show it to others. In the art piece, a person has many rainbow and colorful eyes, representing her true self, but she hides them behind a monotone and blank mask that only allows her two colorless eyes to be visible. By blocking her eyes, her soul is also left obstructed and invisible. Around the subject, I used the words "Eyes are the windows to the soul" and the same phrase but translated into Spanish, because I have always loved the Spanish language and its beauty. The medium is pen and ink along with colored pencil on unframed watercolor paper measuring 11.25 in. x 9 in.
